A new chapter in grassroots political engagement unfolded in Ijebu-Ode on Sunday 5 2026, as Adetomiwa Adetilewa officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, representing the Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East Federal Constituency. Pointing at new wave of governance.

Adetilewa used the occasion to unveil a strong message centred on bringing governance closer to the people, pledging to prioritize the localization of governance if elected.
Speaking at the event, he emphasized the need to bridge the gap between policymakers and constituents, noting that effective representation begins with a clear understanding of the everyday realities of the people.
“Governance must not feel distant or abstract,” he said.
In his message, he sait governance should be something the people can see, feel, and actively participate in.
The aspirant further stated that his mission is to ensure that policies and programmes are tailored to meet the specific needs of local communities.
Adetilewa highlighted key focus areas of his campaign to include community-driven development, youth empowerment, improved infrastructure, and stronger support for local enterprises.
He added that localizing governance would involve decentralizing certain decision-making processes and increasing community participation in policy implementation.
Party leaders and stakeholders at Ward Nine, alongside residents and supporters present at the event, expressed optimism about his candidacy, citing his grassroots approach and commitment to inclusivity.
Also speaking, Hon. Aremu Babatunde, the Ogun State Youth Leader, described Adetilewa’s vision as timely, noting that citizens are increasingly demanding capacity, transparency, and accountability from elected officials. He added that the aspirant represents an opportunity the ward should not overlook.
In the same vein, Hon. Adebiyi, popularly known as Ocean B, described Adetilewa as a highly intelligent individual with a track record of decency, integrity, and strong community values.
Ward Nine leaders who welcomed his aspiration said they believe his emphasis on localized governance would resonate strongly with voters, particularly at the grassroots level where access to higher political representation remains limited.
As the race begins to take shape, it is observed that his message will connect with constituents across the constituency.
For Adetomiwa Adetilewa, the journey to the House of Representatives is not just about winning an election but about redefining governance to better serve the people at the grassroots.
