The Coordinator of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Hon. Olusegun Kaka has refuted claims that casualties were recorded during the group’s inauguration held on Sunday at Ake Palace in Abeokuta, describing the reports as entirely false and misleading
In a statement released on Monday, by the State Director of Media of YPM, comorade Oluseun Joshua,
Hon.Kaka emphasized that the event was peaceful and well-organized, with no incidents resulting in injuries or loss of life.
He urged the public to ignore what he termed “baseless reports” circulating across social media platforms.
“Contrary to the rumours being spread in some quarters, no casualties were recorded during the inauguration. The programme was orderly, properly coordinated, and concluded without any disruption,” Kaka stated.
He further highlighted that comprehensive security arrangements were put in place before and during the event, ensuring the safety of dignitaries, party members, and supporters in attendance.
He also expressed concern over the spread of unverified information, warning that such misinformation could trigger unnecessary panic among the public.
Similarly, the Ogun State Police Command, in a separate statement, clarified that a reported clash between rival cult groups neither occurred at Ake Palace nor within the rally venue, and was unrelated to the YPM inauguration.
According to the police, the incident in question took place along Wasimi Ake Road, between Centenary Hall and Lotus Bank, towards the Ijemo Agbadu axis.
