APC Ogun East Youth Leaders Strengthen Readiness for 2027 Elections, Engage Grassroots Youth Leaders

In a move widely seen as a demonstration of commitment to future electoral success, youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial Area of Ogun State convened on 31, Tuesday 3 2026, at the party secretariat in Ijebu Ode for a Youth Leaders Assembly.
Themed “The Youth and the Progressive Party,” the gathering featured strong calls for unity, enhanced grassroots mobilization, and renewed dedication toward the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.
Delivering the welcome address, the Senatorial Youth Leader, Hon. Michael Abolanle Agbolade expressed appreciation to party stakeholders and dignitaries, including Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, for their support in facilitating the event.
Agbolade described the assembly as a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure ahead of upcoming elections.
He emphasized the critical role of young people in shaping political outcomes.
According to him, recent party data shows that youths aged 18 to 35 now constitute about 49 per cent of the APC’s registered membership nationwide, a significant increase from previous figures of 21 to 23 per cent. Despite this growth, he cautioned against complacency, noting that youth representation remains uneven across various areas and requires intensified grassroots engagement.
“The role of youths in attaining electoral victory can not be overemphasized,” he stated, urging members to recruit more young people into the party, reactivate inactive members, and strengthen political awareness among supporters.
He further called for unity among youth leaders at all levels, stressing that collaboration is essential for future electoral success.
Agbolade also commended the Ogun State Government’s developmental strides under Governor Abiodun, citing infrastructure projects such as road construction and the Gateway Airport initiative.
He equally acknowledged ongoing economic and security efforts at the national level under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his remarks, the Deputy Chairman of Ogun State APC, Chief James Dina, who served as Father of the Day, expressed concern over the spread of unverified information among some youths He cautioned against hasty reactions to issues without proper verification and urged young members to channel their energy into productive party activities that support ongoing development in the state.
As part of the resolutions reached at the assembly, participants passed a vote of confidence in both the governor and the president, endorsing Governor Abiodun for a senatorial bid and President Tinubu for a second term in office.
Also speaking, the State Youth Leader, Hon. Aremu Babatunde, who served as Chief Host of the event, encouraged youths to seize emerging political opportunities to advance their careers and strengthen their relevance within the party.
He urged local government and ward youth leaders to reinforce their grassroots structures, constitute functional executive committees, and foster inclusiveness among members.
The event also featured a keynote address by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Nuberu Adesanya Olufemi, who spoke on the theme and urged participants to remain active and proactive in party affairs.
The convener, Chief Agbolade, announced plans for a larger rally expected to attract over 5,000 youths across the senatorial district, aimed at demonstrating widespread support for the party’s leadership and future electoral ambitions
The assembly concluded on an optimistic note, with participants reaffirming their commitment to sustained engagement, constructive participation, and continued mobilization of support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking with journalists, the youth leaders applauded the convener for the effort put into organizing what they described as a monumental success.
They noted that it was the first time such a large and impactful youth gathering had been recorded in the area.
They added that the performance of the youth leadership within just a few days in office has demonstrated strong capability and promise.
