The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has sealed two industries, Forest Timber Industries Limited and Long Xing Plywood Industries Limited, for violating environmental regulations in the state, in accordance with the press statement made by Luke Adebesin, Information & Public Relations Officer

Luke Adebesin said the General Manager of OGEPA, Hon. Kehinde Bello, remain resolute in adhere to zero tolerant to compliance, while speaking with journalists during a compliance and enforcement exercise carried out by the agency’s Task Force in Okunowa town, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Hon. Bello explained that Forest Timber Industries Limited, engaged in the production of plywood and particle boards, was found culpable of several environmental infractions, including open burning, poor management of solid waste, and uncontrolled emissions from its chimney.
He further stated that Long Xing Plywood Industries Limited, also a plywood manufacturing company, was sealed for operating without the required environmental approvals and for repeatedly denying government regulatory officials’ access to its facility.
According to the OGEPA boss, the agency was left with no option but to seal the two facilities after several warnings and directives issued to them were ignored.
“These offences are in clear violation of the environmental laws of Ogun State, and the agency is resolute in enforcing these laws to ensure public safety,” Bello said.
“We will not fold our arms and allow industries in the state to continue to flout environmental regulations.”
He urged all industries operating within the state to comply strictly with environmental laws to avoid sanctions, including the sealing of their facilities.
