According the News gathered by BoldNEWS Africa the Project that announced it commencement recently at the Awujale Palace Pavilion, Ojude-Oba Arena, Ijebu-Ode recently is a major expansion of the state ongoing efforts to empower women, strengthen households, and promote inclusive economic growth.
At the project unveiling programme, on behalf of the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, was the Honorable Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser,
In his Key note address, Prince OlaDapo Okubadejo, who also the State Chairman of Multisectoral Coordination Structure (MCS) highlighted the administration’s commitment to driving sustainable development through women’s economic inclusion.
He said the project at its first phase with outstanding performance had earned recognition from the World Bank as a National Resource Centre for Peer Learning, attracting sixteen states seeking knowledge exchange and best-practice engagement.
Hon. Prince Okubadejo emphasized that the NFWP-SU today represents “not merely a project launched, but an investment in a future where women have access to opportunities and communities thrive.”
He explained that the initiative addresses systemic barriers faced by women particularly in having access to business training, financial support, and enabling environments, while it strengthening the way for credit-ready, growth-oriented, women-owned micro and small enterprises.
He declared that Through the Scale-Up phase, over 105,000 women will be directly empowered with support from 420 Ward Facilitators. Beneficiaries will receive training in financial literacy, business management, life skills, and grievance redress mechanisms (GRM), equipping them to build sustainable enterprises and contribute more significantly to the state’s economy.
Prince Okubadejo, the State Chairman of Multisectoral Coordination Structure (MCS) acknowledged the strong collaboration between the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Ogun State Government, and the World Bank, describing it as a shared commitment to combating extreme poverty and building a more inclusive society.
“In championing women’s economic empowerment, we not only advance gender equality but also lay the foundation for a more prosperous Ogun State,” he added.
