Yagba West Local Government, Kogi State Operatives of The Joint Task Force (JTF) have arrested a suspected drug courier believed to be supplying illicit substances to bandits operating within Yagba West Local Government Area.

According to Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, the Chief Press Secretary, Yagba West Local Government Council press statement released recently, and obtained by BoldNEWS Africa, the suspect, identified as Owoloja Femi, a native of Ejiba, was apprehended on Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m. in Odo-Eri, along Saminaka Road, during a routine patrol by security personnel.

The statement revealed that a sources within the JTF narrated that Owoloja was allegedly transporting two cartons of hard drugs intended for criminal elements hiding in nearby forests. His accomplices reportedly escaped on a motorcycle, abandoning the consignment, as they spotted the approaching security team, while he was napped.
In the preliminary investigations, Owoloja serves as the Chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Ejiba Branch. And said to have confessed to procuring the drugs from a chemist in Egbe for onward delivery to the bandits. He was also found in possession of ₦600,000, suspected to be either proceeds from previous deliveries or operational funds meant for the transaction.
The report has that the suspect is currently in the custody as investigations continue into the broader network of logistics and supply aiding criminal activities in the area.
Reacting to the arrest, the Executive Chairman of Yagba West LGA and Chairman of Kogi State ALGON, Hon. Tosin Olokun, lauded the security operatives for their proactive measures and renewed crackdown on criminal supply chains.

Olokun assured the general public that the local government is fully commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the region, he issued a stern warning to individuals collaborating with criminal elements to desist or be found in the awaiting hands of the law
While told the people that all those found complicit will be handed over to relevant security agencies for thorough prosecution.
